COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1.Why ZOe? What does the word mean?
It's a Greek word, meaning "Gift from God." We are very blessed to have this practice and the opportunity to serve Middle Georgia. We work every day to earn your trust and confidence. We are known as praying doctors as when I have to give parents bad news, I will ask your permission for us to pray together. I find that this simple act will go a long way to helping both of us cope. As parents wear their emotions on their sleeve, we are not capable of taking bad news without the help of the great healer.
2.What is your philosophy that drives how you practice medicine?
We became Pediatricians because we believe we can influence our youth to adopt healthy lifestyles. But, we must convince their parents that a healthy lifestyle is achievable and desirable. Most of the diseases that cost society lots of money and families lots of pain are preventable. Western Medicine has not been good at addressing these issues. We tend to focus on the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. We would much rather prevent obesity rather than treat diabetes. So, we have focused our life's work in ways that provided us the opportunity to do that. ZOe Peds focus on the adoption of healthy habits for the entire family. Progress can be made if we stay on task and continue to preach the gospel of prevention. Our children do not have to be obese, hyperactive or underachieve. Our children can learn to invest in their "tomorrows' by being good stewards "today." Just like teaching, reading, writing and arithmetic made America great. Eating right, exercising and having a healthy attitude will cure the epidemic of preventable diseases.
3 . Do I have to bring my records from my previous pediatrician if I want to switch providers?
No. We will have the records transferred for you.
4. Are we accepting new patients?
Absolutely!!!
5. Do I have to make an appointment or can I just walk in?
It is always better to make an appointment as we try to keep on schedule but we do not turn away anyone. If your children are sick and need to be seen, we will work them in even if we have to stay late. We do not tolerate the un-necessary suffering of children. Even if it is after hours, on week-ends or holidays, if we cannot address the problem over the phone, we will meet you at the office.
6. What is the age range for the children that you treat?
Birth-19 years of age
7. I don't want to catch something. If I am coming in for a "well child" visit, do I have to sit with the children who are sick?
Not to worry. We have two waiting rooms. One for sick children and the other for children who are coming for their well child visits.

All of our doctors have privileges at Upson Regional Medical Center in Thomaston.
